After much stress and disorder, Toby (Christina's friend from UC Davis), Christina (classmate, you've probably noticed pix of her elsewhere in the photo page), Felicia (Chris' friend) and I(me) finally made it out for a road trip. A good time was had by all, despite the fact that my three travelling companions were all drinkers and smokers, which as you all know, I am neither of...
Monterey is the proverbial "sleepy seaside town" in California. Its claim to fame is as the town of John Steinbeck, home to Cannery Row and other books I haven't read. It has a famous aquarium, a Bubba Gump theme Restaurant, some rather average beaches and that's about it.
Chris and Feliz at
the Bubba Gump Restaurant a fine institution along the Planet
Hollywood line of overpriced theme restaurants. Although it was
nice of course.

Ky and Feliz outside the Bubba Gump Restaurant at Night (ok,
there wasn't that much to do there...)
Kickin' it
at the beach - our only group photo including the elusive Toby
Aside from a university, all I really saw at Santa Cruz was a fairly deserted beach and the Boardwalk, their theme park - which was closed. That was a little shock, especially for Chris who had been craving a corn dog (a deep fried hot dog, I kid you not) since we left Monterey.
The
lovely Christina and almost as lovely Ky having the time of our
lives at the Boardwalk.
Chris
shows she can get above the rim, thanks to that famous
athleticism of hers. (in joke)
Ky and Chris making
the most of the Boardwalk. Oh, the things to see and do at a
closed theme park.
And poor Chris never did get her corn dog.
